Public Heath & Safety

Laws continue to favour a practice that carries severe public health risks that are intensified in a country the size of Malta. Apart from the obvious risks imposed by the widespread use of shotguns in public areas, there is the added health hazard caused by the persistent pumping of vast amounts of lead into the environment.

The country’s size makes it difficult to effectively protect residences, schools and parks from the risks associated with hunting. Buffer zones are too small to have any real impact, and those living in the countryside know that in their case that protection is annuled. Laws should favour precaution rather than risk public safety.
