Wednesday 28th - AM

  • 140 shots heard around the Girgenti area.
  • Multiple shots were heard by all teams at separate locations.

 Tuesday 27th - PM

  • Hunting is illegal in the afternoon. Two men fired 3 shots at a Turtle Dove which was filmed going down and picked up by a SpringWatch team.
  • Shots were heard in all locations.

  • Multiple shots heard at all locations.
  • An injured Marsh Harrier seen at Girgenti.

Monday 26th - PM

  • A vehicle drove deliberately towards the team at Gharghur, so fast and close they had to squeeze up against the edge of the road to avoid being hit.
  • A badly injured Marsh Harrier was filmed at Dwejra, with almost half it’s wing blown off.

Monday 25th - AM

  • Shots heard by teams in every location.
  • A wader trapper with 10 protected birds on him was apprehended following a SpringWatch team report.

Sunday 25th - PM

  • Injured Marsh Harriers were spotted at Manikata and Handaq, and an injured Montagu’s Harrier and injured Common Kestrel were seen at Xghajra.
  • Hunting is banned on a Sunday, but shots were heard at all locations.

Sunday 25th - AM

  • Hunting is banned on a Sunday, but shots were heard at all locations.
  • A flock of turtle doves were shot at in Handaq.

Saturday 24th - PM

  • Quite a good migration; a variety of birds seen by teams in all locations.
  • Hunting season is open but shooting in the afternoon is banned. Illegal shots were heard by teams at all locations.

  • Gunshots heard by teams at all locations in the south.
  • One hunter apprehended in the vicinity of Luqa International airport.

Friday 23rd - PM

  • Three Montagu’s Harriers were shot at in Dwejra.

  • Following a Spring Watch team report, a hunter was apprehended for hunting illegally in the closed season at Selmun.

 Thursday 22nd - PM

  • A team at the Red Tower had their tyres slashed, the same location as this morning’s rock-throwing incident.

Thursday 22nd - AM

  • Team at Red Tower had rocks hurled at the car while they were inside, which could have caused serious harm if they had smashed through the window and hit someone.

Wednesday 21st - AM

  • Well over 200 illegal gunshots were heard in Delimara.
  • An armed hunter was seen in Foresta 2000.
  • An injured Marsh Harrier with 2 dangling legs was filmed struggling and making its way out to sea.

Tuesday 20th - PM

  • Gunshots were heard in the same area as the morning, near the airport. ALE and police were called.

  • About 50 shots were heard in Safi and the surrounding area, just meters from the Luqa International Airport.

 Monday 19th - PM

  • Armed hunter filmed in Mellieha and verbal abuse hurled at the team in a drive-by incident.

Sunday 18th - AM

  • At least ten armed hunters actively hunting in sight of the Siggiewi team.
  • 2 team members thrown to the ground and beaten at Dingli.
  • Yesterday windscreen of teams car shattered with gunshots.

Saturday 17th - PM

  • Hunter filmed actively hunting at Mgarr.
  • Team received death threat and aggression in Mtahleb.

  • Quiet day for migration.
  • Illegal trappers filmed at a finch trapping site in Mtahleb.
  • The surveillance team at Has-Saptan had stones hurled at them.

Friday 16th - PM

  • Armed hunter filmed actively hunting at Xghajra. Police arrived after 1 hour 10 minutes and didn’t catch him.

Friday 16th - AM

  • A racist graffiti threat was found at the Dingli watchpoint. This is the second such threat found by our teams in a week.

Thursday 15th - PM

  • A hunter was filmed hunting at the Fomm ir-Rih area. The hunter shot at a kestrel which has been in the area for quite a while. The kestrel did not seem to be hit.

  • Numerous gunshots were heard at Delimara and a few other sites, although few birds were on the move.

  • 3 Marsh Harriers seen in flight with gunshot wounds (leg and wings) by teams in different locations.
  • Drive by incidents  -  abuse and intimidation hurled at teams in 2 locations.

Wednesday 14th - AM

  • Mtahleb - the team discovered a freshly painted sign saying ‘RIP You is goking with jor life’, surrounded by animal entrails.

Tuesday 13th - PM

  • Black Kite seen in flight over Mtarfa, then later at Gianpula, with gunshot injuries.
  • Plastic decoys were confiscated from an illegal wader trapper following a Spring Watch report.

Tuesday 13th - AM

  • Marsh Harrier seen trying to roost in Luqa with a broken leg.
  • Many Marsh Harriers and some Montagu’s Harriers left their roost sites watched by both Spring Watch teams and suspicious individuals. Teams made themselves visible however some shots were recorded.

Monday 12th - PM

  • An armed hunter spotted the Mtahleb team filming him, hid his gun and crawled away. The police said it would take at least an hour to respond as their 2 vehicles were unavailable.
  • 2 hunters in Gianpula drove up in a red Isuzu and flushed a pair of female Montagu’s Harriers. By the time one of them pulled a shotgun out of the vehicle the birds were out of range.

Monday 12th AM

  • An armed hunter was filmed in the Mtarfa area. The team was then approached and threatened by men with sticks. The men left before the police arrived.

Sunday 11th - PM

  • A kestrel was seen in flight over Mizieb with gunshot injuries.
  • An unarmed hunter approached the Nadur team and hurled abuse at them. He left when the team leader threatened to call the police. 
  • A team filmed an armed hunter, however the police said it was too dark and they would come tomorrow.
