The hunting season is open between the 1st September and 31st January. 41 species of bird may be legally hunted. A list of these huntable birds may be viewed here - shooting at any other bird is illegal.
Hunting at sea is permitted from the 1st October till 31st January.
The following is not permitted during the hunting season:
- Hunting after 15:00 on weekdays between the 15th and 30th September,
- Hunting after 13:00 on a Sunday and public holidays,
- Hunting inside a Bird Sanctuary (eg – Buskett, Salina),
- Hunting within 50 mt of a main road,
- Hunting within 200 mt of a residential area,
- All trapping is illegal.
- Hunting using boats capable of exceeding 18kph
