Children raise funds for Malta’s breeding swifts

80 children today took part in a sponsored marathon walk from Rabat to Qrendi, donating €1,121 towards the construction of Swift (Rundun) nest boxes to be put up in various localities across Malta and Gozo.

School children celebrate World Wetlands Day at Nature reserves

Malta and Gozo’s schoolchildren are this week visiting the Għadira and Is-Simar nature reserves for a special educational tour to celebrate World Wetlands Day, an activity organised by BirdLife Malta and Bank of Valletta’s education programme Dinja Wahda.

BirdLife Malta and BOV launch 2009's upgraded Dinja Wahda

This scholastic year’s Dinja Wahda, BirdLife and Bank of Valletta’s environmental education project for schools, was this morning launched at Inspire in Marsascala with a prize giving ceremony for the 90 schools which participated in Dinja Wahda last year. This year’s Dinja Wahda programme features a new Action Guide for teachers with a set of new activities for schoolchildren.

Children raise environmental concerns with Minister Pullicino

Children raise funds for Foresta2000

As part of the Dinja Wahda environmental education programme, around 75 children raised nearly Euro1000 for the Foresta 2000 afforestation Project in Mellieha and presented the donation to BirdLife officials just before the start of the 4 hour marathon walk from Rabat to Is-Simar on Sunday.
